Intentional Living and Community Building Certificate Program at The Lab offers a holistic learning environment for community building and personal development.  The program goes beyond political community organizing and addresses the specific needs of a community.  Intentional communities allow powerful action towards creating a high quality of life.  Alternative and radical solutions can be applied and used to create social change.  The ILCB program will begin by offering 4 leading edge courses that are open to community members, students and CBO staff and employees.

The courses will begin fall 2010.  Applications will be available online June 1st, 2010

Th objective of the Food Justice Course is to introduce students to green and sustainable resources in New Orleans, deepen participants awareness of community building, provide a small urban farm as a work area, to train culturally aware leaders a community ethnographers with access to tools, skills and resources that allow Intentional Living and Community Building to happen in traditionally under-served communities.  Topics will include seeds, soil, urban farming, urban foraging, green in NOLA, culture of food, sustainable community models and more...
